The red windmill stands above a mural on the front of the building showing people dancing. The cathedral stands in the middle of the city. The facade of the Paris Opera looms up over the stairs descending to the Opéra metro station.
The Moulin Rouge dinner theater. A view of Notre Dame Cathedral as seen from the dome of the Sacre Coeur Church in Montmartre. The Paris Opera Palais Garnier. Here is a view of the front facade at the end of Avenue de l'Opéra, looking over the descent to Opéra metro station.
A woman with arms outstretched, wearing a blue shirt and yellow skirt, dances in front of a woman with a giant red feather costume. Women with colorful costumes dance in the street, a young girl with a metalic silver dress with orange, red, and yellow skirt and hat dances in the center. Mina Tindle up on stage singing "Pas les saisons", she is squinting into the lights to see the crowd, holding her guitar, with her mouth near the standing microphone.
The final weekend in June was time for the Carnival Tropical, a Caribbean carnival celebrated near City Hall in June. Many different teams danced in the tropical carnival. This young dancer caught my attention with her energy and enthusiasm as she danced with her team down Rue de la Coutellerie to Avenue Victoria. We attended a free outdoor concert and saw two of my favorite French perormers: Mina Tindle (pictured above) and Cali. This was a free concert at Place de la République on June 25th.
Napoleon's Tomb, a massive thing Napoleon's Tomb, a massive thing Napoleon's Tomb, a massive thing
The Tomb of Napoleon I. It stands in the Dôme des Invalides as part of the Musée de l’Armée. The Dôme des Invalides is worth seeing if you have a week in Paris. A model of Blaye, Gironde, made in 1703 at a scale of 1:600. The French military and government had surveys made, and then these exact copies of fortresses and cities were made for planning. The Musée des Plans Reliefs in Paris showcases many of these models, some dating back to the 17th century, but many from the early 19th century.

This is parade armor for the Chinese Emperor. In fact, it belonged to Emperor Qianlong. I don’t know the story of how it came to be in the Musée de l’Armée in Paris, but it is impressive. Another Asian helmet displayed in the Museum of the Army in Paris. I’ve always liked looking at armor, and the Museum of the Army in Paris has a fine collection.

This is a close view of a window at 27bis quai Anatole-France, designed by Richard Hermann Antoine Bouwens van der Boijen, a Parisian architect. The building was completed in 1905. This is the structure at 27 quai Anatole-France, also by Richard Hermann Antoine Bouwens van der Boijen, and also completed in 1905. One of the wonderful entrances to the paris Metro designed by Hector Guimard, an édicules with the glass roof.
