Economic Experts and Resources Eric Hadley-Ives

My undergraduate degree in international development involved my taking a few advanced economics courses, and in my graduate studies I also focused partly on economic development. The scholars who trained me in areas related to economics include Neva Lynn Seidman Makgetla, Rafat Fazeli, Martha Ozawa, Frederic Raines, and Michael Sherraden. Here is a list of some of the internet web resources I trust most and use most often to follow economic issues. I'll begin with...

my top ten resources:

  1. Dean Baker at the Center for Economic Policy and Research is one of my favorites.
  2. I listen to the Planet Money podcasts (twice each week) and visit their blog regularly.
  3. I no longer subscribe to The Economist, but I check their web pages every couple weeks.
  4. I pay attention to the economic situation in Taiwan and China, and one of my favorite sources for information about the Chinese Economy is the China Financial Markets blog by Michael Pettis.
  5. One of my favorite economists is James K. Galbraith (I admired his father as well), and I like how he shares his scholarly and service work on his home page.
  6. I am generally a supporter of the organized labor movement, and I do check in on the AFL-CIO blog now and then.
  7. I trust the ProPublica journalism website as a source for good investigative reporting, and you can search their site for business and economics issues.
  8. The White House website has information about what the executive branch of our national government is doing about economic issues.
  9. I like the naked capitalism blog, and I read it fairly regularly.
  10. I think that the PIMCO blog puts out some fairly good information about the economy for their investors.
